Final Submission

Image
After we viewed our third quarter submission in the class, peers recommended that we fix our volume as it was too loud at certain parts. Therefor, we cut out the scenes where our main character, Rachel was yelling at her brother. We also decided that our credits in our movie were too long and should stop before the dialogue starts. We fixed this by shortening the credits on Adobe Premiere Pro so that the movie would not officially begin until after the credits were done.

Creative Critical Reflection

Revision

After we viewed our third quarter submission in class we received several compliments and critiques. A couple peers agreed that this movie is a lot better and the plot is well-developed compared to our last movie. They also agreed that the sound was a lot better however, we realized that when we edited we turned the audio gain down too much. There were a couple technical errors with the sound and we realized that it was because the microphone was too close to the actors during filming. There is a part in the movie where Rachel screams and it is very loud in the movie because the microphone was very close to her. Before we submit our movie we are going to fix the audio levels by turning the audio gain up and cutting the part out where she screams loudly into the microphone. We also received several compliments about our film, camera shots, and acting. A peer also told us that our plot is very interesting and relative as it takes place on Siesta Key. We also were told that ou...

Quarter 3 Submission

Image
This is the third quarter submission where we changed the location, plot, and camera that we filmed with. We also added a new actress, me, as the girl who reports there are people missing because of the changes we made within our plot. This will be the content we use for the final submission but we realize we will need to make revisions based on our peers’ comments.

Creative Critical Reflection Draft 4

4. How did you integrate technologies-software, hardware, and online-in this project? When we filmed our final project we borrowed a Canon T5i rebel from Mr. Elsbree which was very effective as there was an excellent image quality and was very easy to use. When we filmed our first draft of the movie we did not realize that the microphones were off because there was no way to tell on the other camera we used. However, this time on the Canon T5i Rebel we could see the sound was working because of the sound level meter in the corner of the camera. We also used a tripod during filming so the camera would not be shaky and provided stability especially with the wind. Once we finished filming we used Adobe Premiere to edit the entire film. This program was very helpful as it allowed us to cut certain scenes and to change the transitions between the scenes. We also found a clip of seagulls that was non- copyrighted from youtube and used the editing program to include throughout the film. Once...

Creative Critical Reflection Draft 3

3.  How did your production skills develop throughout this project? As the director for The Lost, my job was to control the film's artistic and dramatic aspects, visualize the script, and creating and making sure the camera operator followed the shot list. Crystal, the camera operator came up with the idea of having a girl go missing at the beach and we all agreed that the idea was unique and interesting for the audience. We all collaborated on what we wanted the plot to be about and created the characters that would work for our story. After we developed an idea of the characters and their relationships we created the script all together so there would not be any controversy. Once we created the script, we all were thinking of who we could cast for the roles in the film that would be good at acting. We then decided on Shane Peel and Rachel Peel for our actors because of their experience in plays. I then began to create the shot list and once I finished we all agreed and started f...

Creative Critical Reflection Draft 2

2. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?         The Lost engages with the younger generation from ages 15 to 25 because of the average age for the horror film genre. We are aiming for the younger generation because the plot also revolves around teenagers and our actors are this age. The film can also be seen as relatable because it is about a protective big brother protecting his little sister and wanting to make sure nothing bad happens to her. The situation is very realistic for younger people as it takes place at a beach where there are plenty of strangers that can easily take someone. The interest of our target audience would be people who are interested in terror, suspense, and missing persons. This film catches the attention of younger people because it is relatable, the plot revolves around younger people, and is also a horror film which is commonly watched by teenagers.        ...
